Another week in a post

9 July 2006
Cosfest V - The Reunion @ Downtown East
It was raining, but it did not dampen the spirit of the cosplayers as well as photographers... Saw a number of familiar faces there too... Cosplay just seem so interesting and fun - people can be anyone they wanted to be here... I wouldn't totally agree to say that these people lost touch with reality and that they live in their very own fantasy world... Many put in a lot of effort at their costumes and accessories etc... I wanted to try out cosplay too, but it is an expensive hobby to invest in and currently, photography is also an expensive hobby too... Anyone interested in cosplay? Here are some of the shots taken:

8 July 2006
Slept at 7am after returning home... Woke up 3pm by a phone call asking me lots of sensitive questions... Felt like being investigated... I don't like that... First thing in the day that pissed me off very much... Wanted to go chiong again, but take into consideration of the next day's cosplay, I stayed at home instead... Sigh - Need to intoxicate...

Had a course on 6 July, and today was the test... I don't like this "today lesson, tommorrow test" style... This greatly put people like me who are slow learner at a disadvantage position. Whatever, secured by lunch time.

Evening time, went to Macritchie Reservoir to do some shots...

Went to loof to see a photo exhibition by a fellow clubsnap member. His works are great and that he's only 23. Saw Feine there too, but I didn't really take pictures there... Then, I went to MOS to sweat it out. There was a fight there, I tried to seperate the guys but was hit at the upper lip which made it bled. How unlucky - tried to help out but got this instead... Been there until it closed at 5am... The first train is only at 6.05am, so I went around to do some shots...

Nothing to say. In a very foul mood...

5 July 2006
A very important day. It's my first day at work... Should I say it is a milestone? But thing turn out to be something out of expectations... By 11am, off work... Huh? What the??? Whatever...
Went for the NUS medical check at NUS of course... I found it rather troublesome... Treat it as a recce to check things out... Because 5 July is the date allocated for the Science people... Hence, I saw some who will most likely be my future fellow course-mates... The system just pissed me off... Other than that, many things just don't go smoothly today... Some more shots from today...

Need a passport size photograph for my NUS whatever card thingy... Its a shame that being a photographer, I'm unable to do this little thing for myself. I realised that there's more for me to learn for portrait shooting for that a few minutes of shoot...

Finally received a letter from the Singapore Young Photographer Award (SYPA)... Sigh, the outcome seem to be as expected - I wasn't lucky... No, I should blame on my own incapabilities... While there are some who told me well done, there are those whom will make me very much inferior will say "cannot make it"... I may sound negative, but I believe one has to be more realistic and be able to tell which comments are more critical and makes more sense...
Took the advice from the forum I kenan shoot and bombarded, and made some more attempts at my "Improvised studio"... Not very good though...

Acquired the polariser filter for my camera... Shooting through glasses, water surface and other reflective materials will be easier now... Also, it can also be used like a Neutral Density (ND) filter too... Hence, using of slower shutter speed under bright daylight is possible without the shot being overexposed. Also, it can cut unwanted reflections and hence shooting the sky will produce a more vivid colour because of this effect... Although the capabilities and possiblities have expanded, there are still a lot of things I can't do yet... Examples are: A real studio, underwater, total darkness, super macro, fast continuous shoot etc... I don't think I will be doing the following that soon: underwater, artistic, commercial, sexy, lingerie, nude etc... In fact, maybe doing the bikini shoot was still too early for me too... Seems like people give the impression that a 19 year old is too young to do bikini shoot? In the case of a model, this age for bikini shoots is definitely not too young, but for photographer, maybe?
